Recenze Backstreet Battalion:
Against Racial Prejudice), kterej ale nemůžu srovnávat, protože originál neznám. Song One Life, který otvírá desku a Badlands, je přesně ve stylu, který jsem popsal, ale třeba na End of the Week mi přijde, jakoby Sylvain zpíval hůře a že se tam zpěv vůbec nehodí. Fury of Glory, Lost and Drunk (asi nejlepší song z desky) a Ghost from the Past se vrácí zase do časů Hair Today Gone Tomorrow (parádní singalong refrény ve všech písních a v Ghost from the Past skvělá basová vyhrávka).

Review Backstreet Battalion:
The Prowlers is band which comes from Montreal and they are playing for quite a long time but they have just one full length album (Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow), some split CD´s and also some EP´s. I know just they full length and I really like it. Rough vocal, catchy refrains, small guitar solos and terse sound which makes unbreakable wall, so I was quite curious what they release 13 years after it on this 10´´ LP. The band plays still in five piece line up but I don´t know how much the people changed in the band. So we have there seven songs (all in English which is quite unusual in Montreal area) including cover from Street Troopers (Oi! Against Racial Prejudice), which I can´t compare to original version because I don´t know it. Song One Life which opens the LP and Badlands is in the style which I described above but I don´t really like End of the Week (especially the vocals part which didn´t fits to me in that song). Fury of Glory, Lost and Drunk (for me the best song from LP) and Ghost from the Past is back in the rails of Hair Today Gone Tomorrow (great sing-alongs and great bass part in Ghost from the Past). LP is limited to 500 copies in three colored versions (200 for Canada, 200 for Europe and 100 goes into States). This LP really begins where their full length ends so if you like the full one you will like this LP too. I have just digital format, but inside artwork of the LP should be OK.

Review American-Oi:
The Prowlers are an anti-fascist Oi! band from the streets of Montreal and have been around for over 15 years already. In those years these guys already had their fair share of releases, but it has been a while since we had a release with a proper tracklist on their own. But now it’s here in the form of a 10” titled “On The Run” that features seven songs and that is a co-production between Longshot Music, Aggrobeat and Insurgence Records.

As said, “On The Run” contains seven tracks, of which six are brand new own productions and the seventh track being a cover of “Oi! Against Racism” which is originally on Street Troopers’ record “Take The Battle To The Streets”. Every single track on this piece of wax is solid, powerful and brickwall Oi! music with raw vocals that sounds like a tribute to the classic Canadian Oi! bands as well as the classic British Oi! bands of the 80’s. Although the band’s stance is against racial prejudice, the lyrics on tracks like “One Life”, “End Of The Week”, “Fury Of Glory” and “Lost And Drunk” aren’t particularly political orientated as you would might expect and to be honest, why should they be? Exactly, it’s not per se necessary.

So, what do you do get are songs about life, friends, the weekend, hockey and boozing… the standard stuff? Well maybe, but if they’re well written, got the sing-a-long choruses in the right places and the sound is tight you won’t hear me complain, quite the contrary actually, because this is a damn good record that contains The Prowlers’ best stuff since their first, and only, full-length album “Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow”!

Every label has their own colored vinyl version that splits the total of 500 copies up in 200 copies of grey vinyl with red splatter (Aggrobeat), 200 copies of white in black vinyl (Insurgence Records) and 100 solid black copies for Longshot Music. So pick out your favorite color and get your order in, because this 10” is well worth your hard earned money!
